This class begins with moonlit salutations to prepare to sit and practice Kriya, a set of ancient practices designed to influence energetic flow in the body to achieve a specific outcome. The practices include breathwork, bandhas (energetic locks), chanting, and visualization to activate the flow of energy through the chakras thereby releasing blockages and restoring balance to body and mind. After energizing and rebalancing through kriya, we will enjoy the practice of Yoga Nidra beneath the stars. During the practice you are guided through meditation designed to relax your body deeply and induce an alpha state while still maintaining mental awareness. In this relaxed, non-reactive state, one is able to connect with and release unconscious emotional blockages gently and safely.

May Louie first took yoga in college to fulfill a Phys-Ed requirement and immediately fell in love. She, unfortunately, did not continue with her practice but reconnected with it when she retired from her corporate job in 2002 and has since become a serious yoga enthusiast. After her second retirement last year, she completed her 200-hour RYT certification, studying with Dina Crosta, Ellen Mosko, and Jamie Segal Hanley, with a focus on alignment based flow.
