You practice. You meditate. You show up early to set an intention; you stay late to connect with your community about everything from dharma talks to downward dogs.
The 8 limbs have wrapped you up in a warm hug of compassion and loving kindness.
You are READY to become a yoga teacher (or simply study your passion with greater awareness) but…
You are extremely overwhelmed by how, where, and when to begin your deep dive.
Stop the Googling. We’ve got you.
There are thousands of yoga teacher trainings to choose from and hundreds of things to consider, from location (location, location) and timing to cost and (most importantly) connection with the human being who will guide you on what could quite possibly be the most transformative journey of your life.
The best advice we can give is to ask questions, trust your intuition, and remind yourself that this is – and always will be – a yoga PRACTICE. There is no perfect. So once you commit, commit with your soul.
Beyond that, we want to recommend a handful of spaces, places, and people who are consistently offering well-rounded, dynamic, inspirational, intentional, and incredibly engaging trainings. The NJYC believes that every single one of these programs will take you on the journey of a lifetime, plus gift you with the skills and knowledge you need to teach with an authentic voice.
Here they are!
And in addition to the ones below, we definitely recommend you checking out Jivamukti Jersey City, DIG Yoga, Elevate Yoga. Each is absolutely incredible, transformational, and sealed with our stamp of love and approval!

“This training acknowledges all the primary required study for a 200hr Yoga Alliance certification while adding a nurturing amount of reflection, connection and support so that the student absorbs and imbibes the rituals of nature and season. It has been the fashion of many 200 hr RYT trainings to shorten the timeline – presently there are many shortened training offerings from 4 months, 30 days, 2 weeks while many students can absorb book knowledge in shortened period of time- true knowing is an experiential journey and one that encourages the divine creative power inside all of us. In this training a student will learn all the tenants of yoga found in a variety of lineages as well as the tools of Ayurveda, Pranayama, Mudras, mantras, anatomy, meditation, asana and sacred text of Patanjali’s sutras. We will also begin to understand that we are not divided by nature; we are nature and from the context of Ayurvedic we are composed of the same basic five elements—ether, air, fire, water, and earth—as every material object around us. Students will be given the tools and information, through the lens of teaching a class- what asana (yoga shapes) are correct for our body at what time of year, what foods are essential to nourish our body each season, self care techniques to begin to understand our constitution and looking at unhealthy patterns we see both in ourselves and movements of our students. The ultimate goal is to make small changes that encourage living a life more fully engaged with family, diet, work, as well as beginning to see possibilities and opportunities.
Your body has inherent wisdom and is complete and balanced when in tune with the rhythms of nature… right action, right decisions and peace are found in the consciousness of honoring a way of life that is in harmony with natural change. We invite you to a practice and training in tune with nature. Led by Carrie Godesky and Jennifer Vafakos Inlet Yoga’s Foundational Teacher Training explores nature and seasons, together we will begin a path that will change the way you practice and your life in one short year.”
