Never take “NO” for an answer. That’s the magic, and the message, behind the success of Adam Binder, the founder, and artistic mastermind behind Apeiron Yoga.
Apeiron is known for creating yoga mats and accessories that reflect the diversity within our growing, worldwide yoga community.
Their mantra, “live limitless”, speaks to Adam’s personal intention to shed all limitations and move through life with a sense of heightened awareness.
In a physical sense, Apeiron aims to change the game for yogis who SWEAT. before creating his company, Adam found himself slipping and sliding all over every mat he attempted to use in a hot yoga space. His breath, drishti and intention had to take a backseat to the idea of not crashing on the down dog next to him. Plus he was less than inspired by the color of the mats beneath his feet (and hands).
In his words, “every yogi has their own story to tell, and an ordinary rubber mat shines no light on that inner energy.”
So Adam decided to literally create the solution to his own slippery-when-wet situation: Apeiron’s slip-proof and imaginatively designed yoga mats. Simply put, Adam’s mats keep you safe and stylish as you move your asana.
We sat down with Adam to learn even more about who he is and everything he has created.
On why you became a designer:
Having spent the early part of my life in Brooklyn, I was surrounded by a diverse culture that exposed me to all different types of art, music, fashion, food, architecture, etc. As a result, I’ve always been fascinated by design and the way it impacts human emotions. I’ve spent a good portion of my life learning about and experimenting with different mediums, but the ones I’m most passionate about today are digital art/photography, web design, and music production/sound design.
On your design aesthetic:
My style is experimental and eclectic; I’m always pushing boundaries outside the norm or the expected. I draw inspiration from everywhere – art, places, music, you name it – and I think that comes through in the Apeiron yoga mat designs. I’ve always been a button pusher, not because i’m a trouble-maker, (well, maybe a little) but rather because I want to explore possibilities of things that have either never been tried, people said it couldn’t be done, (if you want to motivate me, tell me I can’t do something) or that seemingly just don’t make sense.

On your point of view:
The word “yoga” literally means “union”. Apeiron unites several of my passions (art, yoga, the environment, health & wellness) into one unique product. Our eco-friendly yoga mats combine the perfect blend of form, function, and flair while also being good for the environment and your health. All of these elements together in conjunction with the eclectic designs makes Apeiron a pretty unique product compared to anything else on the market today.
On your muses:
I’m inspired by the magnificence and splendor of our natural environment, and I am intrigued by the fleeting balance between strength and fragility in nature. I’m inspired by my own internal curiosity and desire to always be learning, and from watching my child explore with his own curiosities. I’m inspired by people, places, and music that have made me feel something, and by those who find success in the face of adversity. Last but not least, I’m inspired by the many incredible teachers and mentors I’ve met since starting my yoga journey, several of whom we we are collaborating with on collections for 2018 (stay tuned!).

“As an artist, I think it’s important to be able to view life from different perspectives”
-Adam Binder
On work-life balance:
It’s complicated.
On growing a business:
I’ve been a risk taker my whole life, and my journey as a business owner definitely reflects that! In 2012, I gave up a guaranteed paycheck working at a restaurant to start my digital marketing company Creative Click Media. Following my passion for design and providing a better life for my then-infant son were my greatest motivators, and over the past five years the company has grown from a one man business to a team of nearly 20 with numerous industry awards under our belts. Seeing the success we’ve had in such a short amount of time proved to me how much can be accomplished through hard work and not taking “no” for an answer.
It’s with this same spirit Apeiron was born just this past year. I started practicing yoga to improve my overall fitness and regain a centered state of mind, but soon saw an untapped entrepreneurial opportunity. Combining the lessons I learned starting Creative Click Media with my love of art and yoga, Apeiron was born. This past year has been a whirlwind, and the business growth we’ve seen would be impossible without our talented team and the support of the local yoga community. It’s been an educational experience, for sure, but that’s the beauty of growing a business. After all, how much can one really grow as an entrepreneur if everything goes perfectly from the get go? Seeing our products evolve from their initial prototypes to now receiving nationwide coverage has made the journey all the more worthwhile, and this is only the beginning.
On your roots in the Garden State:
I lived in Brooklyn until I was 12, so when I moved to Lakewood, New Jersey, it was a culture shock. I’ve never really felt like I fit in anywhere, but never more than at this time did I feel like an outcast. I later realized that the things that made me different shouldn’t be perceived as flaws. Instead, my differences are what have helped me stand out and and fuel my success. I’ve also lived in Toms River, and currently reside in Manahawkin, just a few miles from LBI. I love this area for the beaches, good schools, support of the arts, and thriving yoga community.
