Rolling out my mat
My safe space
Alone or in a crowd
Just two by six feet of peace
Making space for my bones to stack freely
My fascia to soften
My joints to open
My body to expand
Making space to receive the breath
For the air and blood to course through me
Melting away stress, anxiety and fear
Making space in my mind
To let go of the clutter
Creating room for my brain to settle into what is
Not what was or will be
Making space in my heart to forgive myself
To release judgment
To see the possibilities
To accept it all
Good and bad
Making space to transcend the mat
To find contentment in all the moments, big and small
To be grateful for this life, this mystery
To bring just a little more peace into this world
Yoga, a personal discovery or a world changing experience?
It can be what you choose
Just choose!
And let it be…

May Louie first took yoga in college to fulfill a Phys-Ed requirement and immediately fell in love. She, unfortunately, did not continue with her practice but reconnected with it when she retired from her corporate job in 2002 and has since become a serious yoga enthusiast. After her second retirement in 2017, she completed her 200-hour RYT certification, studying with Dina Crosta, Ellen Mosko, and Jamie Segal Hanley, with a focus on alignment based flow.
