Insta-Worthy Moments of the Week

We checked our instagram hashtag every single day for a long while, thinking “it will be out of control amazing when we hit 1000 tags!”
 
I mean, seriously. Amie bought glitter and confetti.
 
But guess what?
We hit 1000 and we DIDN’T. EVEN. KNOW.
We signed on to Instgram today, totally nonchallant, just to look for all these amazing pictures – to celebrate the people who make this site into a living, breathing celebration of NJ yoga (that’s YOU!) – and we realized our milestone came and went.

Happy Monday! Name one thing that is already getting you excited for tomorrow ?? Did you know that your mindset controls everything? What you eat, how you sleep, how you perceive yourself? We have to work hard to train the mind to love more & be scared less. Our brains are wired to be lazy, to take the easy way out. Unless you tell it other wise. That is why it is very easy to fall into a funk, feel bad for yourself, think you aren’t good enough… the list goes on & on. Find the bias of your brain and work it. ??#livehappier

FEEL GOOD, DO GOOD, BE GOOD…. Taking other people’s classes makes me realize how my practice, my teaching, and my message has changed over the years.. My yoga has become simple but more powerful, more precise. In the beginning, it was a show and a bull horn. Now it’s more an experiment and experience. I ran into a student on the trails yesterday, she commented that she appreciated my “no nonsense “ approach . I smiled , yeah I guess I am that. My words are less flowery, my practice less flamboyant, my goal quite simple. Feel good. Do good. Be good. Three simple things .. -Keep your body moving in a way that’s comfortably challenging. When it’s broken , keep moving, but then be more therapeutic. Just keep moving. Your body is not only your temple but your vehicle that carries you, not only through your day but through your life, take proper care of it. -With that fit body of yours get out there and do the right thing. Your actions create reactions out there in the world, pay attention. Be kind, choose compassion. Think how you can protect and serve , not how you can consume and destroy. -With a comfortable body and actions that are kInd we become more. More than just an animal that walks and eats. We become a being of love and understanding. A being that listens and learns. That cares and repairs . A being that leaves things better than they found it. Not a being that leaves trash and destruction in their wake. So that’s all I got for you guys. Anyone else feeling tired and wanting to sleep by 4:00pm and not get up till 11:00am? Seasonal Affective Disorder gets worse every year for me. I find it so hard to stay motivated when all I want to do is sleep ? It's been pretty sunny for the last few days which helps but the cooler weather and early nights start to take a toll on me quickly. I am just not a winter person. Day 1 of the #12daysofasana⠀ Lotus pose or #Padmasana⠀ ⠀ To enter padmasana begin in a seated posture and bend the right knee into your chest and place it on top of the left thigh as close to the hip crease as possible. Then bend the left knee and place it as close to the right hip crease. Find a length in the spine and a weight in the pelvis.⠀ Be gentle entering into this pose and only go as deep as your body feels comfortable. This pose requires openness in the hips so prep with some hip openers such as, Baddha Konasana, or Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, pigeon pose. Also, find a good pooch and everything easier ❤️? Hello, friends! On Sunday, December 10th from 4-5:30pm I will be teaching a special, all levels flow at @yogapeacekula. 100% of donations will go to Clothed with Strength and Dignity, which sends aid to survivors of sex trafficking in the NJ/NY area. Of course I will be singing and playing guitar for savasana! Also, please bring new or gently used clothing to donate. We (@kelseymurphy7 and I) will deliver the donations to the charity.? (All Kelsey wanted for her 23rd bday was to raise funds for this charity- how awesome is she??) Mark your calendars! I hope to see you there! ☺️ “Clothed with Strength and Dignity is an ongoing ministry of the Justice Network. We extend love to survivors of sex trafficking by providing clothing that they can use to start their life over again. We collect, organize, and distribute new or gently used clothing in all sizes. Our prayer is that the clothes will provide the survivors with dignity in their outer appearance as they are healed and restored on the inside.
