It’s no secret that one of our absolute favorite humans – and teachers – is Jeff Posner, the founder of Yoga Framework.

After Jeff’s class at VibeWell 2018, we spent HOURS pondering all the things we thought we knew about asana, in all the best ways. Our conversation with Jeff continues to this day, which might just explain our ridiculously high level of excitement for his upcoming trainings at StressFree Body in Keyport, NJ.

Why, you ask?

Well, we actually think Jeff explains his background better than we possibly could (mostly because there is SO much going on), hence the quote below from the man himself. But beyond what you are about to read, know this: Jeff is working to bridge the gap between classic asana and functional mobility training. He’s the mix of science and spirit that so many yoga teachers consistently tell us they are looking for.

Now, onto the “bio”:

Through the years I have been inspired by various movement sciences and yoga lineages including but not limited to Hatha, Katonah Yoga®, Lotus Flow™, Ido Portal Movement Culture and the Functional Range Systems®.

First certified at Laughing Lotus in New York City under Dana Flynn, I studied vinyasa and the Lotus Flow™ sequencing. I then continued on to study Katonah Yoga™ in Bedford Hills under Nevine Michaan exploring sacred geometry and the philosophy of Taoism.

What I began to realize was while yoga can be a “healing” practice it is not a rehabilitative practice for your body. I wanted the ability to assess myself (and others) for possible deficiencies/pain in the body and be able to fix them.

This is where diving deeper into the subject of movement and stretch physiology became necessary.

I started a mentorship with the Ido Portal team while at the same time discovering Functional Range Systems (FRC® | FRA®) and the knowledge I have gained in the process was life changing.

Now I want to share that knowledge with you.

My teaching framework is ideal for beginner and advanced students as well as those with physical limitations.

And perhaps more importantly, the four training modules we all have access to over the coming months – until StressBody fills to max capacity (soon!):

YOGA FRAMEWORK: UPPER BODY MOBILITY WORKSHOP

July 26, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

Mobility and Movement are the key to mitigating injuries, arthritis and living a healthier more accessible life. But what exactly is it? And how do we incorporate mobility training into our existing physical routine? In this workshop we will discuss the science behind the movement and mobility trend covering concepts from FRC and other lineages. You will learn how to incorporate these cutting edge concepts into your life, at class and for any level. Stop thinking you have weak joints and for that reason can’t (insert pastime favorite activity here), learn to adapt more efficiently. You’re already the most amazing machine ever made. How well are you functioning and how often are you tuning, measuring and calibrating?
Upper Limbs: There will be a focus on wrist, elbow and shoulder mobility in this workshop.

YOGA FRAMEWORK: LOWER BODY MOBILITY WORKSHOP

YOGA FRAMEWORK: HANDSTAND WORKSHOP

December 7, 2019 from 1 to 3 PM

Are you afraid to fly?
Has hand balancing been a mystery to you?
Are you ready to change all that?
Even if you can’t jump to the wall yet, this workshop is for you.
or..
Maybe you can get upside down on the wall and you’re pretty comfortable there… but you just don’t “feel’ it yet.
Maybe you’ve been holding 3-5 second handstands… but you just can’t “stick” it yet.
You can hold the handstand… but you desire more control for transitioning.
In this workshop I will take you step by step as we break down the fundamentals of a freestanding handstand and its counterparts.
We will discuss:
– how to fall safely to overcome fear
– building the pose before even taking flight
– alignment tips to manage and correct balance
You will learn the evolution of a handstand, where “you” are on the path and how to move forward..
