We all have a choice to look on the positive side of things, to stop blaming and being a victim, to reach out and ask for help and offer help to others.

Tell us about your company. What do you do? What’s your mission?
Hi, I’m Michele the owner and founder of Happy Buddha, a grassroots lifestyle brand. Our mission is simple, to inspire you and those around you, to create and spread peace and positivity. We are a community of friends, neighbors and complete strangers – united by the power of spreading love and light, both online and offline. We embrace the power of gratitude in order to appreciate all the positivity in our lives.
Our Happy Buddha products are designed in New Jersey, and inspired by the power of gratitude. We take pride in producing unique, high quality gifts and apparel that are a reminder to ourselves, and others, that being grateful is a choice, that can positively influence the direction of your life, the people in your life, our communities and in our world. It sounds simple, but the effect is profound.
The Happy Buddha lifestyle exemplifies a passion for the choice to take action in living your best life and reaching out in helping others.
We hope to encourage folks to join our tribe and spread the positive vibes and maybe buy a t-shirt or two.

Who (or what) inspires you, and why?
I’m inspired by the real heroes of the world – the first responders, parents who’ve lost a child, recovering addicts, single moms, all the people who are handling there circumstances to the best of their ability and of course all of those who still suffer. We hope that Happy Buddha can bring a smile and some peace, even if it’s just for a second.
Do you have any mentors? Who? How have they influenced you?
Mentors? I believe it takes an army to succeed. Once I realized and learned that I did not have to go through life alone, that I can reach out and ask for help, I really began to thrive. I would not be where I am today without all the love I’ve received along the way, as well as all the empty wells I drank from.
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your business, what would it be?
I’m not sure I can look back in time and wish or hoped I have done something different. Every mistake, every gain has all been part of what’s beginning to unfold for me in my life today. Sure I wish I suffered less in my depression or handled my addictions earlier, but it is what it is and it takes what it takes to be given the gift to come out on the other side.
I just consider myself an example of how gratitude can work in your life. We all have a choice to look on the positive side of things, to stop blaming and being a victim, to reach out and ask for help and offer help to others. The more we practice these behavior the more likely we’re able to start seeing our situations and circumstances in a different light. Everything is fleeting, and what’s the worst thing that could happen? Oh yeah, you could die. So why not just for today choose to be grateful for what you do have, rather than spending your focus and time on the things you don’t. This lifestyle choice continues to work for me as I wear my gratitude muscle tanks and keep trudging the long road of happy destiny.
I’m not sure I can look back in time and wish or hoped I have done something different. Every mistake, every gain has all been part of what’s beginning to unfold for me in my life today.

How do you want people to feel when they wear Happy Buddha?
When someone see a Happy Buddha sticker or wears their gratitude muscle tank, I want them to feel joy, to feel comfortable in there skin so there positive energy can radiate and be a source of light to others.
If I had to describe Happy Buddha in 3 words, it would be Gratitude, Self-love and Action.

What does “yoga” mean to you?
Yoga for me is the way to stay connected to my body, to make sure I’m giving my mind, body and spirit the time and space needed to get quiet and recharge.
MORE ABOUT MICHELE
I recently completed a 200 yoga teacher training with Vanessa Van Noy. Prior to diving into the journey with Vanessa I really didn’t know her all that well, I just knew I loved her classes, the sound of her voice and how she really didn’t care to much about making me do all the really hard bendy poses. So, I’ve been following her around like a little minion, and she is still my favorite teacher and compassionate badass. She did tell me to take other instructors classes, but I don’t, I only take her classes. #teamvanessa
Yoga is actually a very small pieces of the puzzle for me. I find a lot of reward in lifting and carrying heavy things…aka crossfit, strength training and rucking #goruck – look it up!
I read a lot, I go to bed super early, like embarrassing early and I wake up super early. I haven’t drank or taken drugs for a number of years now, although I am a binge eater and a nail biter. My best pal is my yorkie Tobie, the love and cuddles are constant with him and he’s seen it all with me. I love all food and like to eat everywhere and lately my favorite vacations are just mellow yoga retreats or hiking trip.
