All this full. All that is full.
From fullness, fullness comes.
When fullness is taken from fullness,
Fullness still remains.
Today recognizes the symmetry between light and darkness, as Mother Nature establishes equilibrium between both day and night. As the warmth of the sun tilts away from the Northern Hemisphere, we accept that the soil is dying as we turn our attention inward for the slower, darker and colder months to come. The first day of fall also coincides with the start of Libra season in astrology, the sign of the Scales, marking a time for inviting balance back to body and mind after the whirlwind of summer. We can also look to the pagan ritual “Mabon,” and come together in celebration of abundance and gratitude: sharing in the bounty of our harvests and even reallocating some of those resources to those who live in scarcity.
Ready to make the shift? Here are some events to get you there.
Seasonal Yoga Autumn Equinox Class with Carrie Godesky
Monday at Inlet Yoga, Manasquan
Let go…and fall gracefully into Autumn by celebrating the change of season. The Autumn Equinox is the time of union between the Light and the Dark, the Sun and Moon. It is the time of balance from Fire to Water, between the Yang and the Yin. At this point the Earth takes a breath, a quiet pause and a new window of possibility blows open and invites us back in.

The Structure of Stillness: The Quiet With-Yin with Ellen Mosko
Friday at Elevate Yoga in Hazlet
The New Moon symbolically draws us to pause, to ebb before the next new wave of action. During the New Moon, we symbolically cut ties to energies that are no longer supporting our intentions. As the connection to someone or something outdated shifts, we may notice vitality returning and aligning with greater ease in order to develop a deeper connection within and with Spirit. Starting with a gentle, breath-based sequence we’ll effortlessly flow into Yin Yoga postures to experience the “feel” of moving toward darkness and becoming comfortable in the stillness of not knowing. At this time we release old patterns holding us back, and with renewed clarity, move forward with a powerful vision for ourselves.
This quiet practice reflects, aligns and supports your limitless nature. You’ll hear a Goddess story lightly woven throughout the class and receive a guided relaxation to deepen your connection to this season.

She, unfortunately, did not continue with her practice but reconnected with it when she retired from her corporate job in 2002 and has since become a serious yoga enthusiast. After her second retirement in 2017, she completed her 200-hour RYT certification, studying with Dina Crosta, Ellen Mosko, and Jamie Segal Hanley, with a focus on alignment based flow.
