The practice of yoga is often associated with the idea of “finding balance” in our lives. Balance between heart and mind, giving and receiving, strength and surrender, social and self, light and dark, education and enterprise, loving and letting go.
Before finding yoga, most of us schlep through our days completely beholden to deeply ingrained patterns that manifest in routines: wake up, eat, work, eat, sleep, repeat. We muddle through this huge, amazing opportunity called LIFE without a conscious effort to align our intentions and dreams with our choices and actions.
Essentially, we lose balance. Or maybe we never even knew we could have it in the first place.
Through consistent practice – on the mat and off – we can bring the body, mind and soul together. We can discover ways to infuse our experience of the world with positive energy, focus and clarity.
This sequence was carefully curated to help you quiet the mind, feel supported, be fully present and find your center. Each pose aligns with a specific chakra as well, moving from your root to your crown, so I suggest working through them in the order offered here to experience all the energetic benefits!

Bridget is a mom, a yoga teacher, a former lawyer, a writer, a moderately decent cook, a really good baker, a seeker of fantastic coffee and a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. Bridget became all those things around the same time and credits the whole “former lawyer” thing as the impetus for most of the fun stuff she gets to do on a daily basis now. That, and her husband Joe’s complete willingness to support her spontaneity with a smile. Bridget was born and raised in New Jersey and cannot imagine calling anywhere else “home.” She loves the entire NJ yoga community with lioness-like ferocity and cannot wait to show the world just what NJ yogis are up to – because it is crazy amazing stuff.[/box]
