Tell the truth – have you sat down to meditate lately?

Because we have to be honest…

Meditation has taken a bit of a backseat to BBQs and beach trips over the course of the last week. Luckily a few of our local studios TOTALLY get it and are offering meditation opportunities, along with incredible asana experiences (of course).

Check out our favorites this week!

In addition to this collection of special workshops and events, we also highly recommend checking out Honor Yoga North Brunswick’s meditation space and their aerial yoga nidra. As Susan, Honor’s owner describes it: “you get to drop your worries into the Aerial hammock and feel the support immediately. Students will explore two postures in the hammock before entering into relaxed guided meditation. Students can remain in the hammock for an extended time after class for silent meditation or reflection.”

So basically, it’s life changing.

The Science of Stretching and Mobility

July 15th at JaiPure Yoga in Montclair

Learn how to Strengthen Joints and Improve Flexibility. Teach the nervous system how to control acquired ranges in the body. Use active stretching to move beyond static isometric holds. In this workshop we will focus on three main ideals from the FRC® system: ~Mobility – Joint Strength – Body Control. Mobility refers to the amount of active, usable motion that one possesses. While improving mobility and movement potential, we will also ‘bullet proof’ (or safe-guard) your joints so that movement can be executed safely. This leads to a reduction of pain and injury, joint health and longevity, as well as an increased ability to move freely and easily.

Foundations of Arm Balances and Inversions with Stephanie G

July 15th at the Bhakti Barn in Millburn

Join Stephanie in this workshop focusing on building and strengthening your foundations for all sorts of arm balances and inversions! We will focus on warming up the individual parts of the body required for inversions,(hands, wrists, shoulders, etc) We’ll talk about proper weight placement in your hands, and start working towards conquering the fears that come with arm balances and going upside down!

NJ YogaMay Louie first took yoga in college to fulfill a Phys-Ed requirement and immediately fell in love. She, unfortunately, did not continue with her practice but reconnected with it when she retired from her corporate job in 2002 and has since become a serious yoga enthusiast. After her second retirement last year, she completed her 200-hour RYT certification, studying with Dina Crosta, Ellen Mosko, and Jamie Segal Hanley, with a focus on alignment based flow.
