We hear you. Life is busy and the holiday vibes are equal parts merry and mind-scrambling, so yoga is an absolute must, right?

Here are the events we’ve discovered all over NJ to keep you happy and bright. From sound healing and meditation to hamstring liberation and creating a safe environment for becoming a truly mindful man, we know there is something on this list for you.

Expanding into the Heart Of Winter: A Mini Retreat To Pause, Restore, Reconnect, And Return. with Jillian Pransky – Wait List Only

Friday night at Alluem Yoga in Cranford

Join us for a deep dive into the Sacred Pause where we will weave together practices to harmonize our bodies, minds and spirits in order to return to our innate warmth, connectedness, and spaciousness. Taking time to prepare for the winter solstice and holiday season in this way can deepen your sense of wholeness and wellness through out the season. In this mini retreat we will create conditions to rest deeply in this sacred pause using slow flow yoga, meditation, and restoratives that will calm your body, clear your mind and open your heart. Weaving in essential teachings from her book, Deep Listening, Jillian will guide you to release blocked energy, surrender layers of deeply held stress and tension, and nurture your capacity for greater joy, compassion, and intuition.

Sound Healing Meditation with Bridget Lyons

Bridget, a certified sound healer will guide you through a vibratory journey into a deep meditative state using the sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls, crystal pyramids, drums, chimes and other healing instruments. Gentle yoga, crystals, reiki and a relaxing fragrance designed to balance the Chakra system may all be used. These energies work together to heighten awareness, release physical, emotional and cellular blockages, and create a deep sense of relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety to leave you with a feeling of peace.

Liberate your Hamstrings, Liberate Your Heart

Forward bends turn the attention inwards and bring the brain and heart to a restful state. However, many of us struggle with tightness in our hips, hamstrings, and groin area which make it difficult to experience the wonderful effects of forward bending.

In this special series of postures, we will explore how to make forward bending more accessible to your particular body. We will be looking at ways to increase flexibility by balancing important muscle groups that assist healthy forward bends.

Mala & Mantra Workshop

Sunday afternoon at Balance Yoga in Perth Amboy

Join us for a Mala-making workshop, where you’ll make your own, unique half-mala and learn how to use it in mantra meditation (japa). In creating your own sacred jewelry, you’ll be able to imbue your own intentions and purpose. You’ll learn how to keep your jewelry clear and available to assist you in your growth. We will also go over mantras and how to use them in meditation with your new mala. We will close class with one round of japa meditation to seal in the intention for your mala and your connection to the mantra you’ve chosen. An assortment of beautiful stones will be provided as well as accents and pendants to make it your very own.

Creating a Safe and Affirming Place for the LGBTQ Community

LGBTQ people are more likely to experience feelings of isolation, depression, and low self-esteem, increasing their risk for depression, drug use, suicide, and other risky behaviors. In understanding what each letter means in the community in addition to some of the things they experience, you will learn how to appropriately engage and affirm the LGBTQ community. Together we will discuss best practices and ways to support the LGBTQ community through your therapeutic line of work.

The Mindful Man with Josh Ansley

Come join coach Joshua Ansley in creating a safe environment for men to come together and support each other in learning to step into the often daunting process of becoming their best possible selves. Using ancient philosophical concepts and techniques spanning a myriad of modalities Joshua Ansley guides the group through meditation, breathwork, lecture/workshop, discussion and personal coaching- leading men into emotional accountability and action resulting in a more enriching Life for those willing participants and their Loved ones.

Chakra Meditation and Sound Healing w/ April Puciata & Bridget Lyons

Sunday morning at Align Amar Yoga in Tinton Falls

This powerful experience will bring you through each chakra, (or energy center) with a guided meditation led by April and enhanced with sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls, chimes and other healing instruments by Bridget. The combination of these techniques will help promote healing, quiet the chatter and allow you to tune into your own divine essence.

Our morning practice will end with deep relaxation in Savasana and a led grounding exercise so you can move through your day feeling grounded, clear and inspired.


NJ YogaMay Louie first took yoga in college to fulfill a Phys-Ed requirement and immediately fell in love. She, unfortunately, did not continue with her practice but reconnected with it when she retired from her corporate job in 2002 and has since become a serious yoga enthusiast. After her second retirement in 2017, she completed her 200-hour RYT certification, studying with Dina Crosta, Ellen Mosko, and Jamie Segal Hanley, with a focus on alignment based flow.
