NJ yogis, allow us to introduce – or re-introduce – you to the FYO Foundation, a NJ based 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in 2018 with the mission to help protect, train, and empower anyone living in fear of a violent abuser.
FYO visits the homes of clients and secure their houses with doorbell cameras, motion sensors, intrusion alarms, door security bars, and much more so they may obtain some peace of mind while in their own home.
FYO believes in empowering those targeted by violent individuals by giving out tools, knowledge, and training. Their three main programs are:
Home Assessment – home security assessment, device installs and self-defense classes
Carol’s Crusade Kit – helps domestic violence victims leave their abusers
Pop-Up Food & Essentials Pantry – provides food and essentials to clients and those living in fear or effected by COVID-19
Now here comes the (on the mat) yoga.
FYO recently started donation based sunrise/sunset yoga classes at the McCabe Ave beach entrance in Bradley Beach. Their yoga classes support the FYO Emergency Housing Fund, which provides clients in the most dangerous situations with safe housing.
Three local yoga teachers currently offer six classes a week. The classes have a suggested donation of $10 (good news: many people donate more. They’ve raised almost $600 in the first three classes).
