“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you.”

– Deepak Chopra

Get Grounded, be one with earth, connect with nature

I recently went to see Dr. Deepak Chopra speak in Morristown, NJ and walked away with a whole new perspective on getting grounded.

Deepak spoke passionately about our need to connect to the Earth and supported this belief with powerful research. It is now known that when we come in direct contact with the earth, whether it be touching the grass with bare feet or touching a tree with your hand, there is an instant response in our bodies.

On a scientific level, the negative ions in the earth go into our bodies and start to combat inflammation and free radicals. On a wellness level, we are able to connect back to a bigger picture and experience peace.

Another major benefit of grounding is experiencing the healing benefits from our Earth. The moment you connect with nature, there is a decrease in stress and an increase in peace.  In The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle states that we have three main states that help us connect to our true Self. They are peace, love, and joy.  All other emotions are disturbances that distract us from the present moment.

Utilizing the earth to connect back to peace, love, and joy only makes sense.

As a society, we have moved away from connecting with the Earth regularly. We spend majority of the day inside at work. We sleep on beds instead of the floor.  We wear plastic and rubber shoes that act as a barrier from the Earth’s energy. We ingest more unnatural foods pumped with chemicals instead of natural foods.

It is no wonder there is an increase in illness and disease!

Below are some practical ways to connect back to the earth and allow this powerful mama to do here work:

  • Take a walk on the beach.
  • Let the waves wash over your toes.
  • Wear natural leather shoes.
  • Pick flowers and bring them into your home.
  • Touch the trees on a walk.
  • Go kayaking.
  • Go rock climbing.
  • When exercising, let yourself have a break outside and enjoy sitting on the ground.
  • Be mindful of the environment around you when.

May the earth nurture you always!
